Jungle Huts Lodge Recommendations

A Letter to Phil and Rebecca

As promised were dropping you a wee line to tell about our stay in Dangriga, or 'crazy town' as we've nicknamed it. We're in Placencia now after a very pleasant time in Caye Caulker. We just can't get enough of those rays!

As you know we came to Dangriga to witness the November 19th Garifuna Settlement Day Celebrations. We had wanted for a while to get off the backpacker trail a little, and we both felt that Dangriga was a little away from the normal backpacker destinations. Having come from Guatemala, Dangriga was a complete contrast, with all it's colourful ethnic diversity - from Garifuna to Asian to Mayan - it was just what we'd been looking for.

The celebrations, which lasted for three days I think, were something else. The dancing bordered on the erotic and the amount of alcohol consumed was staggering. However the most amazing thing about Dangriga is how welcome we were made to feel and how pleasant and inquisitive everyone was towards us.

Our stay at the Jungle Huts was fantastic. The rooms are immaculate and Phil made us feel right at home and helped us in anyway he could from boat trips to our onward journey. The food at 'the garden of eatin' is superb local fair, freshly prepared on site. Dive trips and jungle tours are also on the menu for the more adventurous traveler.
Hope all is well with you and yours.

Thanks again for a great stay.

Another letter of recommendation

Phil can fix anything for you! We stayed in Jungle Huts during November 2005 and it was very good: clean sheets, warm water, fan, clean, nice spacious rooms with comfortable beds! At the restaurant Garden of Eatin' we had delicious chicken with beans.
Phil is very kind and can help you with whatever you need: diving, snorkeling, garifuna food, river rafting, hiking - you name it! Jungle Huts and Garden of Eatin' can really be recommended by us.
